The Madoors USA MDRS-800 Shallow Telescopic Accordion Road Blocker Barricade Barrier is a PAS 68, K12, and M50 crash-tested shallow-mounted hostile vehicle mitigation road blocker specifically developed by the Madoors USA in-house engineering team for sites where deeper foundations are not possible or practical — featuring the lowest foundation thickness in the world at less than 300mm while delivering certified stopping performance against a 7,500 kg vehicle at 80 km/h generating 1,852 kJ of direct impact force. The telescopic accordion raising mechanism lifts the blocking segment to a raised height of 1,000mm to 1,500mm without hydraulics — lowering under its own weight for energy-efficient operation — and is available in segment widths of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 meters to cover any road width requirement.
Standard push-button hold-to-run control is provided with full customization for inductive loop systems, card readers, communications equipment, and manned guard emergency systems. A full site risk assessment is required at design stage. CCTV and debris protection skirt fitting are strongly recommended. The MDRS-800 complements the full Madoors USA hostile vehicle mitigation barrier range and is designed for vehicle use only.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The Madoors USA MDRS-800 is certified to PAS 68 — the internationally recognized UK and global vehicle security barrier crash test standard — and rated to K12 and M50 impact classifications, confirming independently tested stopping performance against a 7,500 kg vehicle at 80 km/h — equivalent to 1,852 kJ of kinetic energy — with direct impact force resistance confirmed at 1,852 kJ. This multi-standard certification satisfies government, military, and critical infrastructure procurement specifications across North American, European, and international procurement frameworks simultaneously.
The foundation depth of less than 300mm is the lowest available for any PAS 68 K12 M50 certified road blocker system globally — directly enabling certified hostile vehicle mitigation installation at sites where underground utilities, shallow bedrock, existing subsurface infrastructure, and depth-constrained pavement structures prevent the 500mm to 1,500mm foundations required by conventional embedded road blockers and the 400mm to 500mm foundations required by shallow-mount bollard and wedge barrier alternatives. The sub-300mm foundation depth reduces the civil works cost, excavation time, and underground service conflict risk to the minimum achievable for any certified crash-rated road blocker.
The telescopic accordion raising mechanism provides the 1,000mm to 1,500mm raised blocking height — the vehicle-engaging height required for front bumper, radiator, and lower engine compartment engagement across all standard commercial vehicle types — from a sub-300mm foundation depth through the telescopic extension of the accordion-folded blocking segment from the below-ground housing. This telescopic extension from a shallow foundation is the engineering innovation that resolves the geometric conflict between sub-300mm foundation depth and 1,000mm to 1,500mm raised height requirements that conventional single-piece blocking segments cannot achieve.
The lowering mechanism operates under the blocking segment's own weight — no hydraulic system is required for lowering, reducing system complexity, eliminating hydraulic maintenance requirements, and providing inherently energy-efficient operation. Raising is powered by the specified drive system. Segment widths of 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 meters cover the full range of road widths encountered at government, military, commercial, and critical infrastructure vehicle access control points.
KEY FEATURES
Sub-300mm Foundation Depth — World's Lowest for PAS 68 K12
The less-than-300mm foundation depth is the world's lowest available foundation specification for a PAS 68 K12 M50 certified road blocker — enabling certified hostile vehicle mitigation installation at a wider range of sites than any competing crash-rated road blocker system. This sub-300mm specification directly addresses the most common installation constraint for crash-rated road blockers — the presence of underground utilities, services, and structures at depths that prevent conventional blocker foundation construction. At less than 300mm, the MDRS-800 avoids the vast majority of shallow urban underground services, making it installable at locations that are genuinely impossible for all other certified road blocker types.
PAS 68, K12 & M50 — 1,852 kJ Certified
The triple-standard certification — PAS 68, K12, and M50 — with 1,852 kJ confirmed direct impact force resistance satisfies the highest available procurement specifications across all three primary international hostile vehicle mitigation certification frameworks. The 1,852 kJ impact resistance corresponds to the kinetic energy of a 7,500 kg vehicle at 80 km/h — the maximum test vehicle energy level in the PAS 68 and K12 standards. This maximum energy level certification provides procurement authorities with confidence that the MDRS-800 stops the most extreme credible vehicle attack scenarios, not just lower-threat vehicle classes.
Telescopic Accordion Raising — 1,000mm to 1,500mm Height from Sub-300mm Foundation
The telescopic accordion mechanism is the core engineering innovation of the MDRS-800 — extending from the sub-300mm below-ground housing to the 1,000mm to 1,500mm raised blocking height through the telescoping action of the accordion-folded segment panels. This telescopic extension ratio — achieving a raised height three to five times the foundation depth — overcomes the fundamental geometric limitation of conventional single-piece road blocker plates that require foundation depth approximately equal to the raised height. The accordion folding provides the structural rigidity of a continuous blocking surface in the raised position while collapsing to the compact below-ground configuration for sub-300mm storage.
No Hydraulics for Lowering — Energy-Efficient Operation
The gravity-assisted lowering mechanism — the blocking segment lowers under its own weight without hydraulic assistance — eliminates the hydraulic lowering system from the drive specification, reducing system complexity, hydraulic maintenance requirements, and energy consumption during lowering cycles. Energy-efficient operation across the daily cycle count of active access control positions directly reduces the operational energy cost of the barrier installation. Elimination of the hydraulic lowering system also reduces the number of hydraulic components subject to wear and seal degradation — improving long-term operational reliability.
2m, 3m, 4m, 5m & 6m Segment Widths
Five standard segment widths cover the complete range of road widths at government, military, commercial, and critical infrastructure vehicle access control points — from narrow single-lane access roads at 2 to 3 meters through to standard dual-lane or wide single-lane access roads at 4 to 6 meters. Width selection matches the road blocker blocking width precisely to the road width at each installation — preventing the unblocked side gaps that allow vehicle bypass of undersized blocking segments.
In-House Engineering Team Development — Site-Specific Solution
The MDRS-800 was specifically developed by the Madoors USA in-house engineering team to overcome identified site limitations — confirming that the sub-300mm shallow foundation design is not a compromised adaptation of a standard product but a purpose-engineered solution for the specific installation challenge of certified road blocker deployment at depth-constrained sites. This purpose-engineering approach ensures that the sub-300mm foundation performance is structurally validated for the 1,852 kJ impact loading rather than being an untested extrapolation from deeper-foundation designs.
Push-Button Hold-to-Run Control — Universal Access Control Interface
Standard push-button hold-to-run control provides safe, operator-managed access control with the blocker only moving while the control button is actively held. Universal customization for inductive loop systems, card readers, communications equipment, and manned guard emergency systems allows the MDRS-800 to be integrated into any existing or new facility security management infrastructure. This access control flexibility allows the blocker to serve both manned guard-controlled access points and fully automated access control installations from the same product specification.
Debris Protection Skirt — Strongly Recommended
The debris protection skirt — strongly recommended for all MDRS-800 installations — protects the sub-300mm below-ground mechanism from the debris, water, and contamination that accumulate in shallow road surface excavations at active vehicle access control points. At sub-300mm foundation depth, the mechanism housing is closer to the road surface than any conventional blocker — making debris ingress protection more important than at greater foundation depths. Skirt fitting directly extends the service life of the mechanism and reduces maintenance frequency.
CCTV Strongly Recommended for Remote Control Points
Where the control point is remote from the blocker installation, CCTV is strongly recommended — providing the visual confirmation of vehicle identity, position, and authorization that is not available to a remote operator without camera coverage. CCTV documentation also provides the post-incident evidence required for security incident investigation at hostile vehicle mitigation barrier positions.
Full Site Risk Assessment Required
A full site risk assessment at design stage is required for all MDRS-800 installations — confirming the vehicle threat classification, required PAS 68 / K12 / M50 performance level, road width, sub-300mm foundation feasibility at the specific position, underground service clearance, safety system requirements, and access control interface specification. Vehicle-only design means that pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcycles should not use the blocker-controlled roadway — alternative pedestrian and cyclist routes must be confirmed and provided.
ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION SEQUENCE
Site Risk Assessment & Underground Survey
A full site risk assessment is conducted. Underground utility survey confirms that sub-300mm excavation clears all buried services at the installation position. Road width and segment width selection are confirmed. Access control interface requirements, CCTV, and debris protection skirt specification are confirmed.
Sub-300mm Foundation Excavation
Foundation excavation is completed to less than 300mm depth — the defining civil works advantage of the MDRS-800. Electrical supply conduit and control wiring conduit are installed within the sub-300mm excavation. Drainage provisions within the shallow excavation are confirmed.
Foundation Concrete & Mechanism Housing Installation
The MDRS-800 mechanism housing is installed in the prepared sub-300mm excavation. Foundation concrete is placed to the confirmed depth. Flush road surface alignment of the housing top in the lowered position is verified.
Telescopic Accordion Segment Installation
The telescopic accordion blocking segment is installed within the mechanism housing. Accordion fold geometry, telescopic extension to the 1,000mm to 1,500mm raised position, and gravity lowering to the flush ground position are verified through multiple complete raise and lower cycles.
Drive System & Control System Installation
The raising drive system is installed and connected to the blocker mechanism and electrical supply. Push-button hold-to-run control panel is installed. Access control interfaces — inductive loops, card readers, communications equipment — are connected and verified.
Debris Protection Skirt Installation
The debris protection skirt is fitted around the blocker mechanism housing perimeter. Skirt seal contact with the road surface and blocker housing is verified.
CCTV Installation (Remote Control Points)
Where the control point is remote from the installation, CCTV cameras providing coverage of both vehicle approach sides of the blocker are installed and connected to the recording and monitoring system.
Safety System Testing & Certification Handover
All safety systems — obstruction detection, emergency stop, and vehicle presence sensors — are tested and calibrated. PAS 68, K12, and M50 crash test certification documentation, site risk assessment records, and installation engineering documentation are compiled into the project handover package.
