Manual Revolving Door

The Madoors USA Manual and Mechanical Revolving Door is a type-tested, TÜV certified revolving door system that ensures building entrances are functional, draught-excluding, and soundproof — individually configurable through a multitude of design, size, and appearance options to meet any architectural requirement. Certified to DIN 18650 and EN 16005 standards, with drum walls available in curved 10mm laminated safety glass or heat-insulated sheet metal panels, slim-profile aluminum-glass turnstile construction, and user safety as the top design priority, the Madoors USA Manual Revolving Door range covers manual mechanical, semi-automatic, and automatic configurations with folding leaf escape route capability, optional speed limiters, air curtain systems, LED ceiling lighting, stainless steel bottom ring, and manual or automatic night locking.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The Madoors USA Manual Revolving Door is type-tested by TÜV — the German technical inspection authority — to DIN 18650 (the German standard for pedestrian revolving door systems) and EN 16005 (the European standard for power-operated pedestrian doors — safety in use), complying with all current standards and regulations applicable to revolving door systems in commercial, institutional, and public building applications.

The turnstile is constructed with a slim-profile aluminum-glass frame — providing the structural rigidity and aesthetic refinement required for premium building entrance applications with minimal visual mass in the frame profiles. Drum walls are available in two configurations — curved 10mm laminated safety glass (LSG) providing maximum visual transparency and a clean, open entrance aesthetic, and heat-insulated sheet metal panels providing thermal separation and opacity for applications where glazed drum walls are not required or preferred.

The Madoors m-5 manual revolving door version incorporates folding leaves suitable for use in escape and rescue routes — the leaves fold open in the escape direction under emergency egress pressure, providing the full opening width required for emergency evacuation. In normal operation, the folding leaves are held securely in the closed position by magnetic locks, maintaining the standard revolving door function and draught exclusion performance.

An optional speed limiter provides controlled deceleration of the door rotation speed — preventing the drum from rotating too rapidly under push force from users or wind pressure, maintaining user safety and preventing injury from high-speed rotation.

Air curtain systems in different versions are available — providing thermal separation of the building interior from the exterior environment at the door drum opening, supplementing the physical draught exclusion of the revolving door with an air velocity barrier that reduces thermal exchange during user transit.

Additional standard and optional features include complete manufacture in timber for heritage, hospitality, and premium architectural applications, folding mechanism for summer position — folding the door leaves back to provide maximum clear opening width for high-traffic summer periods or events, manual or automatic night locking, LED lamps in the ceiling of the drum, stainless steel bottom ring for floor-level finish and wear resistance, rep floor mat for entry contamination control, and release-secure flange for door panel to frame connection security.

KEY FEATURES
TÜV Type-Tested — DIN 18650 & EN 16005 Certified
TÜV type-testing to DIN 18650 and EN 16005 provides the highest available independent certification for revolving door systems — confirming compliance with the German and European standards governing revolving door safety, dimensional requirements, escape route provisions, and power-operated door safety where applicable. TÜV certification satisfies the building authority approval requirements for revolving door installation in Germany and across Europe, and is recognized internationally as the benchmark quality certification for revolving door systems.

Draught Exclusion & Soundproofing
The revolving door principle provides inherent draught exclusion — at any point in the rotation cycle, at least one door leaf is in contact with the drum wall, preventing direct airflow through the entrance. This continuous seal prevents the cold air infiltration and wind-driven draught that swing doors allow during each opening cycle. Combined with the drum wall glazing or insulated panel sealing, the revolving door provides acoustic attenuation — reducing external noise transmission through the entrance compared to swing door alternatives.

Curved 10mm LSG Drum Walls — Maximum Visual Transparency
Curved 10mm laminated safety glass drum walls provide maximum visual transparency — creating a visually open, spacious entrance that maintains sightlines through the door from both interior and exterior. Laminated safety glass (LSG) maintains glass fragment retention on breakage — the interlayer holds the glass fragments in position, preventing injury from falling glass shards in the busy pedestrian environment of a building entrance. The 10mm thickness provides the structural rigidity required for the curved drum wall geometry without additional frame support across the glazed surface.

Heat-Insulated Sheet Metal Panel Option
Heat-insulated sheet metal drum wall panels provide thermal separation between the entrance environment and the building interior — the higher insulation value of opaque insulated panels compared to single or even laminated glass reduces the thermal bridge at the drum wall, maintaining the building interior temperature during extreme outdoor temperatures at applications where privacy, aesthetic preference, or thermal performance prioritize panel over glazed drum walls.

Madoors m-5 Folding Leaf — Escape Route Compliance
The m-5 version with folding leaves provides the escape route compliance required for revolving doors installed on designated emergency egress routes — the leaves fold open under emergency egress pressure, providing the minimum required clear escape width in the folded position for the confirmed occupancy level. Magnetic lock retention in normal operation maintains the standard revolving door function during non-emergency use, automatically releasing to allow folding under the emergency pressure level specified by the applicable escape route standard.

Optional Speed Limiter — User Safety
The optional speed limiter prevents the drum from rotating at speeds that could cause user injury — decelerating the rotation smoothly when push force or wind pressure would otherwise drive the drum faster than the safe rotation speed limit. Speed limiters are specifically recommended for locations exposed to high wind pressure at the door opening and for high-traffic applications where multiple simultaneous users could apply excessive rotational force to the drum.

Folding Mechanism for Summer Position
The summer position folding mechanism allows the door leaves to be folded back to provide maximum clear opening width during high-traffic summer periods, events, and any situation where the standard revolving function should be bypassed for unrestricted pedestrian throughput. This seasonal operational flexibility allows the same door installation to serve as a draught-excluding revolving door during heating and cooling seasons and as a full-width open entrance during mild weather periods.

Complete Timber Manufacture Option
Complete manufacture in timber provides a traditional, heritage, and premium hospitality aesthetic for revolving door applications in historic buildings, luxury hotels, exclusive retail, and high-end hospitality venues where the modern aluminum-glass construction of standard revolving doors is architecturally inappropriate. Timber construction maintains the same functional and safety performance as the aluminum-glass standard — TÜV certification and DIN/EN standard compliance apply to the timber construction as well.

Manual & Automatic Night Locking
Manual night locking provides key-operated secure closure of the revolving door outside business hours — preventing unauthorized rotation of the drum and providing a physical security barrier at the building entrance. Automatic night locking provides scheduled or remote locking and unlocking — integrating with the building access control and security management system for automated after-hours security without requiring manual locking by the last person to leave the building.

Air Curtain System Integration
Air curtain systems in different configurations supplement the physical draught exclusion of the revolving door with an air velocity barrier at the drum opening — reducing thermal exchange and insect ingress during user transit even for users who pause briefly in the drum. Air curtain integration is particularly valuable for high-traffic retail, hospitality, and institutional entrances where the door rotation cycle cannot provide complete draught exclusion during peak pedestrian throughput.

LED Ceiling Lighting — Stainless Steel Bottom Ring
LED lamps in the drum ceiling provide illumination of the revolving door interior — enhancing the visual quality of the entrance experience, providing safety lighting for the drum interior, and contributing to the premium architectural character of the building entrance. The stainless steel bottom ring provides a durable, corrosion-resistant floor-level finish that withstands the high pedestrian traffic and cleaning chemical exposure of an active building entrance.

Slim-Profile Aluminum-Glass Turnstile Construction
The slim aluminum frame profiles minimize the visual mass of the door structure — maximizing the glazed surface area of the door leaves and drum walls to create the impression of maximum openness and transparency at the building entrance. Slim-profile construction is the preferred aesthetic standard for contemporary glass facade commercial buildings where the entrance door must maintain the visual continuity of the glazed building skin.
