The Madoors USA Manual Flood Barrier is a stackable, push-in, demountable manual flood protection barrier system engineered for rapid manual deployment by one or two operators to isolate flood and storm waters in and around existing infrastructure — constructable to an infinite length from modular segments fabricated in 100mm, 200mm, and 300mm high increments, with embedded seals providing water-tight performance against worst-case flood water height and debris loading scenarios. Purpose-designed, engineered, and manufactured by Madoors Water Control Solutions in compliance with ISO 9001 Quality Management System accreditation, with a minimum 25-year design life, the Madoors USA Manual Flood Barrier serves residential, commercial, and township flood protection applications — from boundary protection at properties, shopping centers, town squares, parks, and CBD areas through to subway access barriers, carpark barriers, liftwell barriers, driveway barriers, doorway barriers, ventilation outlet isolation, and basement flood protection.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The Madoors USA Manual Flood Barrier operates on the push-in stackable barrier principle — during a flood emergency, modular barrier segments are arranged according to the wall fixing element order and pushed into two supporting brackets mounted at the protected opening or boundary position. Activation of fast-acting clamps places simultaneous horizontal and vertical pressure on the seal and locking mechanism of the barrier body — creating a positive, water-tight seal across the protected opening at each installed segment level.
Modular segments are fabricated as extruded sections with embedded seals — the embedded seal design provides consistent, reliable sealing performance at every segment-to-segment and segment-to-bracket interface without requiring separate seal installation during deployment. Segments are manufactured in three height increments — 100mm, 200mm, and 300mm — allowing the deployed barrier height to be built up from the ground in the precise increments required for the specific flood depth at each deployment location.
The system can be fitted inside or in front of the embrasure — inside fitting for recessed or flush-face installation in new construction, and in-front fitting for retrofit installation at existing openings where recessing is not available. This two-position fitting capability makes the system suitable for both greenfield new construction and brownfield retrofit applications.
The modular construction allows the barrier to be constructed to an infinite length — with segments placed end-to-end to cover any boundary length, road width, or opening dimension without size limitation from standard product dimensions. Storage solutions and transportation trolleys are available for organized storage and rapid deployment of the barrier segment inventory.
All Madoors USA Manual Flood Barrier designs are purpose-engineered for the specific site conditions — confirmed flood water height, debris loading, deployment time requirements, site ground conditions, and opening or boundary geometry — by the Madoors Water Control Solutions design team. Design support covers both greenfield and brownfield site conditions. Full documentation on operation, testing procedures, and maintenance is provided with all barrier systems. Comprehensive on-site and off-site training is available.
KEY FEATURES
Infinite Length Construction — Modular End-to-End Assembly
The modular segment construction allows the barrier to be extended to any required length by adding segments end-to-end — providing complete flood protection coverage across any boundary length, road width, entrance width, or perimeter dimension without constraint from standard product sizes. This infinite length capability allows the Madoors USA Manual Flood Barrier to protect both small residential doorway openings and large commercial building perimeters from a single compatible product family.
100mm, 200mm & 300mm Height Increments — Precise Flood Depth Matching
Three segment height increments allow the deployed barrier height to be built up precisely to match the expected flood depth at each location — with 100mm increments providing fine height adjustment capability for applications where the exact flood level is well-defined, and 300mm increments providing rapid height build-up for applications where maximum height must be achieved in minimum deployment time. Modular stacking to any required total height without size limitation ensures that the barrier always matches the worst-case flood water height confirmed in the site flood engineering assessment.
Push-In Stacking — One or Two Operator Deployment
The push-in stacking deployment method allows one or two operators to install the complete barrier at any protected opening or boundary position — pushing each segment into the supporting brackets in sequence from the bottom segment upward. No tools, no lifting equipment, no electrical power, and no specialist skills are required for deployment — the barrier is ready to use by any trained operator when a flood emergency occurs.
Fast-Acting Clamps — Horizontal & Vertical Seal Pressure
The fast-acting clamps apply simultaneous horizontal and vertical pressure to the barrier body seal and locking mechanism — creating a positive, water-tight seal at every deployed segment without requiring the precision alignment and tightening time of conventional screw and bolt seal systems. Fast-acting clamp activation directly reduces the total deployment time for the complete barrier installation, providing the rapid response to flood onset that is critical for manual flood barriers that must be deployed before rising floodwater reaches the protected opening.
Embedded Seals — Consistent Water-Tight Performance
Embedded seals within the extruded segment section provide consistent, reliable sealing performance at all interfaces — segment-to-segment joints, segment-to-bracket contacts, and segment-to-floor threshold contacts — without requiring separate seal placement during deployment. Pre-embedded seals eliminate the risk of seal omission, misalignment, or damage during the time-pressured emergency deployment process, ensuring that the installed barrier provides the designed water-tight performance from the first deployed segment.
Inside or In-Front Embrasure Fitting — Greenfield & Brownfield
Two fitting positions — inside the embrasure for recessed installation and in-front of the embrasure for surface-mounted installation — provide compatibility with both new construction and existing building retrofit applications. Inside fitting provides the most architecturally integrated solution for new builds. In-front fitting provides the most rapidly achievable installation at existing buildings where structural modification for recessed bracket installation is not practical.
ISO 9001 Quality Management — Certified Manufacturing
All manufacturing procedures comply with the Madoors USA ISO 9001 accredited Quality Management System — ensuring that every barrier segment and component is manufactured to a consistent, verified quality standard, tested before dispatch, and certified as ready for trouble-free operation. ISO 9001 compliance provides the quality management documentation required for government, commercial, and infrastructure procurement compliance.
25-Year Design Life — Minimal Maintenance
The minimum 25-year design life with minimal maintenance requirements provides the lowest available whole-of-life cost for a flood barrier system deployed at permanent or semi-permanent protection positions — with the initial purchase cost amortized across a 25-year service life and minimal ongoing maintenance expenditure required throughout. Minimal maintenance directly reduces the total cost of ownership compared to active mechanical and electrical flood barrier systems requiring regular service events.
Purpose-Engineered for Site-Specific Conditions
Every Madoors USA Manual Flood Barrier installation is purpose-engineered for the specific site conditions — flood water height, debris loading, deployment time requirements, ground conditions, and opening geometry — by the Madoors Water Control Solutions design team. This site-specific engineering approach ensures that the delivered barrier system provides the exact protection performance required for the worst-case flood scenario at each specific location, with engineering certification confirming the design basis.
Full Documentation, Training & Design Support
Complete documentation covering operation, testing procedures, and maintenance is provided with every barrier system. Comprehensive on-site and off-site training ensures that all designated operators can deploy the barrier correctly under emergency conditions. Full design support is provided to project partners throughout the design and specification process — covering greenfield and brownfield site conditions, integration with existing infrastructure, and coordination with the overall flood protection system design.
Economically Viable — Storage & Transport Solutions
The Madoors USA Manual Flood Barrier is specifically noted as economically viable — providing an affordable alternative to automated and motorized flood barrier systems for residential, commercial, and municipal flood protection budgets. Storage solutions and transportation trolleys are available to organize and maintain the barrier segment inventory in ready-to-deploy condition, minimizing deployment time and ensuring that all segments are available and undamaged when needed.
PRODUCT RANGE APPLICATIONS
Boundary Protection
Segments installed at property boundary positions — fence lines, property walls, and open boundary perimeters at residential properties, shopping centers, town squares, parks, lakes, and CBD areas — closing the boundary against floodwater entry from the surrounding street or open land while maintaining normal access during non-flood periods.
Doorway & Access Barriers
Segments installed at individual building doorway and access point positions — providing water-tight closure of specific building entrances during flood events while allowing the barrier to be completely demounted and stored after the flood risk passes, restoring the doorway to normal access condition.
Carpark & Driveway Barriers
Segments installed across carpark ramps, underground parking entry ramps, and driveways — preventing floodwater entry into below-grade parking structures and basements through vehicle access ramps and driveway openings that are difficult to seal with conventional door or shutter systems.
Subway & Transportation Access
Segments installed at subway station entrance stairways, escalator landings, and transportation access points — preventing floodwater entry into underground transportation infrastructure through open-air access openings that cannot be closed by standard door systems during flood emergencies.
Liftwell Isolation
Segments installed around liftwell openings at ground floor level — preventing floodwater entry into building liftwell shafts that would damage lift mechanisms and electrical systems and require extensive decontamination and repair after the flood event.
Ventilation Outlet Isolation
Segments installed at ventilation outlet openings — preventing floodwater and storm debris ingress through ventilation openings into building mechanical systems, basements, and underground infrastructure.
Levee Alternative for Township Flood Mitigation
Extended barrier runs constructed from modular segments across township road entrances, park boundaries, and open land interfaces — providing a cost-effective temporary levee alternative for community-scale flood mitigation without the permanent infrastructure cost and landscape impact of conventional earth or concrete levee construction.
ASSEMBLY & DEPLOYMENT SEQUENCE
Pre-Emergency Preparation
Supporting brackets are permanently installed at all specified protection positions during the pre-installation phase — fixed to walls, floor surfaces, and structural elements at the confirmed embrasure-inside or in-front positions. Barrier segments are stored in the provided storage solution or transportation trolleys at a designated accessible location near the protected positions.
Flood Warning Response
On receipt of a flood warning, designated operators access the segment storage location. Segments are loaded onto transportation trolleys and moved to each protection position in the confirmed deployment sequence.
Bracket Verification
Supporting bracket condition and alignment at each protection position are verified before segment installation commences — confirming that all bracket fixing positions are secure and correctly positioned for segment push-in engagement.
Bottom Segment Installation
The first — lowest — segment of the specified height increment is pushed into the two supporting brackets at the protection position. Segment seating in the brackets and embedded seal contact with the floor threshold are verified.
Sequential Segment Stacking
Additional segments are pushed into the brackets in sequence from the bottom upward — with each segment engaging the top of the segment below and the bracket guides on both sides — building up the barrier to the required flood protection height.
Fast-Acting Clamp Activation
Fast-acting clamps are activated at each segment position — applying horizontal and vertical pressure to the seal and locking mechanism of each barrier segment body. Complete clamp engagement and positive water-tight seal across all segment interfaces are verified.
Barrier Integrity Inspection
The complete installed barrier is inspected for segment alignment, clamp engagement, seal continuity at all joints and threshold contacts, and overall installation integrity. Any segment or seal deficiency is immediately corrected before floodwater arrives.
Post-Flood Demounting & Storage
After the flood event, clamps are released, segments are removed in reverse installation sequence, cleaned, inspected, and returned to storage. Brackets are inspected and maintained in ready condition for the next deployment. Maintenance records are updated in accordance with the ISO 9001 Quality Management documentation requirements.
