The Madoors USA MKBS 30 and MKBS 80 Manual Drop Arm Barrier is a manually operated, counterweighted aluminum boom arm lift barrier gate engineered for vehicle access control at entrances where no electrical power source is available — covering opening widths from 4 to 12 meters, locking in both the open and closed positions with a padlock or pinlock, and requiring no electricity, no motorized drive, and no civil engineering works beyond anchoring to an existing concrete surface. Chemical and weather resistant, ergonomically designed for comfortable manual operation, and recoverable for relocation, the Madoors USA manual lift barrier provides reliable, secure vehicle access management through simple, durable all-mechanical construction.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The MKBS 30 and MKBS 80 Manual Lift Barrier Gate covers opening widths from 4 to 12 meters — with barrier arm sections for openings over 12 feet sleeved together using precision-machined aluminum tube inserts secured with bolts, providing a snug, no-movement connection that maintains consistent arm diameter from end to end. The arm is manufactured from aluminum tubing and powder-coated safety yellow for high visibility, with engineering-grade reflective tape for enhanced visibility in low-light and nighttime conditions.
The counterweight system balances the arm mass to minimize the physical effort required to raise and lower the gate — allowing comfortable single-operator manual lifting across the full 4 to 12-meter arm length range. Ergonomically designed comfort grip handles provide correct hand positioning for safe and comfortable operation.
Locking tabs accept standard padlocks and pinlocks in both the raised and lowered positions — securing the arm in the up position to prevent unauthorized lowering and maintain vehicle access when required, and in the down position to prevent unauthorized vehicle passage and secure the barrier against forced opening. Standard color is safety red for the barrier frame, with the arm in powder-coated safety yellow. Custom colors are available for both frame and arm.
Installation is surface-mounted as standard — with a pre-drilled mounting plate that bolts directly to an existing concrete roadway or concrete pad using the included red-head anchors. An in-ground mount version is also available at the same price. The complete gate system can be recovered, moved, and reassembled at a new location — providing full portability for temporary and relocatable access control applications.
KEY FEATURES
No Electricity Required — Off-Grid Access Control
The complete absence of electrical power requirement makes the MKBS Manual Lift Barrier the standard specification for construction sites without power infrastructure, remote checkpoints, rural property entrances, agricultural access points, and any location where electrical supply cannot be guaranteed or has not yet been established. Off-grid operation is achieved without compromise to access control security — the padlock locking system in both positions provides the same barrier security as a powered electromechanical barrier.
4 to 12-Meter Opening Coverage
The 4 to 12-meter opening range covers the complete spectrum of standard vehicle access road widths — from narrow single-vehicle entrance lanes at 4 to 5 meters through to wide dual-lane entrance roads at 10 to 12 meters. This range allows the MKBS manual lift barrier to serve the full range of residential, commercial, agricultural, industrial, and government facility entrance widths from a single product family without requiring different barrier systems for different opening widths.
Counterweight Technology — Minimal Operator Effort
The counterweight system balances the arm mass throughout the full range of arm travel — minimizing the physical effort required from the operator to lift and lower the arm at every point in the travel arc. Counterbalanced operation allows consistent, comfortable single-operator lifting of arms up to 12 meters in length without the physical strain associated with unbalanced arm barriers of equivalent length, reducing operator fatigue across repeated daily cycles.
Sleeved Aluminum Arm Sections — No Movement, Full Rigidity
For arms longer than 12 feet, sections are sleeved together using precision-machined solid aluminum tube inserts secured with bolts. The sleeve is precision-machined to a snug fit that eliminates all movement between sections — providing a structurally continuous arm with consistent diameter from end to end and no visible or functional joint at the sleeve positions. This precision sleeve construction is the engineering basis for reliable, vibration-free barrier arm operation at the longer arm lengths.
Padlock & Pinlock Security — Both Positions
The locking tab system accepts any standard padlock or pinlock in both the fully raised and fully lowered positions — providing positive mechanical security at both arm travel limits without requiring the operator to hold the arm in position or rely on friction mechanisms. Locking in the raised position prevents unauthorized persons from lowering the arm to admit unauthorized vehicles. Locking in the lowered position prevents unauthorized persons from raising the arm to force vehicle access. Both positions are independently and simultaneously securable.
Engineering-Grade Reflective Tape — Night Visibility
Engineering-grade reflective tape on the powder-coated safety yellow arm provides maximum retroreflective visibility to approaching vehicle headlights at night — ensuring that the barrier arm is seen by approaching vehicle operators in full darkness without requiring any powered lighting. The combination of safety yellow coating and engineering-grade reflective tape satisfies the visual warning requirements for road-placed access control barriers at night in standard traffic management practice.
Solar Lighting Compatible
The barrier system is designed for compatibility with lighting accessories — supplementing the passive reflective tape visibility with active illumination at permanently deployed positions where nighttime high-visibility alerting is a priority requirement.
Pre-Drilled Mounting Plate — Bolt-to-Concrete Installation
The pre-drilled mounting plate simplifies installation to a single step — bolting the plate to the existing concrete roadway or pad using the included red-head anchors. No specialist tools, no concrete cutting, and no electrical works are required. This simplified installation allows the barrier to be set up by a single person without construction or installation trades support.
Surface Mount & In-Ground Options — Same Price
Both surface-mounted and in-ground installation versions are available at the same price — providing installation option flexibility for different site preferences without cost penalty. Surface mount is the fastest and most easily reversible installation. In-ground provides a more permanent and visually integrated installation where the barrier housing is recessed into the road surface.
Recoverable & Relocatable — Easy Redeployment
The complete barrier system can be unbolted from the concrete anchors, moved to a new location, and reassembled — providing full relocation capability for temporary and semi-permanent access control applications. Recovery and reassembly require only standard tools and the same simple bolt-to-concrete process as the original installation, allowing the barrier to be redeployed multiple times across different locations throughout its service life.
Ergonomic Comfort Handle — Operator Safety & Comfort
The ergonomically correct comfort handle provides proper hand positioning and grip security for the operator during arm raising and lowering — reducing the wrist strain, grip fatigue, and slip risk associated with standard loop or bar handles on manual lift barriers. Ergonomic handle design directly supports the safety-first operational principle — the barrier arm must be safely and comfortably lockable in the raised position on every cycle.
Chemical & Weather Resistant Construction
Chemical and weather resistance of all barrier materials — aluminum arm, powder-coated steel frame, reflective tape, and hardware — ensures long-term operational reliability in the outdoor environmental conditions of all geographic locations and in industrial environments where chemical exposure from fuels, cleaning agents, and process materials is present. Weather resistance eliminates the maintenance intervention requirement of non-weather-resistant barrier materials in outdoor permanent or semi-permanent deployments.
ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION SEQUENCE
Site Assessment & Arm Length Selection
Opening width, concrete pad availability or requirement, installation type — surface or in-ground — arm length, custom color requirement, and padlock specification are confirmed. Arm sections required for openings over 12 feet are determined and the sleeved connection sequence is confirmed.
Concrete Anchor Position Marking
The pre-drilled mounting plate is positioned at the specified installation point adjacent to the opening. Anchor hole positions are marked on the concrete surface through the pre-drilled plate holes.
Red-Head Anchor Installation
Red-head anchors are installed in the marked positions in the concrete surface. Anchor depth and torque are verified for secure plate connection.
Mounting Plate & Barrier Housing Installation
The barrier housing and mounting plate are bolted to the installed red-head anchors and torqued to the installation specification. Housing level and alignment perpendicular to the barrier arm travel arc are verified.
Arm Section Assembly (Arms Over 12 Feet)
For arm lengths over 12 feet, sections are sleeved together using the precision-machined aluminum tube inserts. Bolt securing at each sleeve position is completed and no-movement rigidity of each sleeve connection is verified.
Arm Installation & Counterweight Adjustment
The complete arm is installed on the barrier housing pivot. Counterweight position is adjusted for balanced arm operation — minimal effort raise and lower throughout the full travel arc. Arm travel, raised position stability, and lowered position ground clearance are verified.
Reflective Tape Application & Visibility Verification
Engineering-grade reflective tape is applied to the arm at the specified positions. Retroreflective performance is verified for correct conspicuity under simulated vehicle headlight illumination.
Padlock & Pinlock Security Testing
Locking tab function in the raised and lowered positions is tested with the specified padlock or pinlock. Lock engagement, security against unauthorized arm movement, and release operation are verified at both positions.
Operational Testing & Handover
Complete manual operation through multiple raise and lower cycles is conducted. Ergonomic handle function, counterweight balance, and arm stability at both locked positions are confirmed. Installation handover documentation is completed.
