M50 M30 Impact Test Rising Beam Barrier

The Madoors USA MDR-RB-1000 M50 Impact Test Rated Rising Beam Barrier is a high-security, anti-terrorist, bidirectional automatic hydraulic rising beam barrier certified to K12 and M50/P1 crash test standards — capable of stopping a 7.5-tonne vehicle at 80 km/h or a 3.5-tonne vehicle at 112 km/h — spanning distances from 3 to 10 meters, deploying in 3 to 5 seconds, and rising to a full guard height of 120 cm. The MDR-RB-1000 remains fully functional after sustaining a crash — a critical operational capability that allows continued access control management at the protected entrance immediately after a hostile vehicle impact without waiting for barrier repair or replacement.

The hydraulically actuated structural beam retracts flush with the roadway when vehicle access is granted, with primary excavation outside the roadway opening and minimal excavation across the road — avoiding underground utilities and obstructions. Standard features include a weatherproof enclosure, PLC with color touch screen, high and low voltage circuit protection, selectable loop programming, manual hand pump, manual secure/unsecure valve overrides, and integrated traffic arm or sliding gate compatibility. The Defender model provides 120 cycles per hour and the Sentinel model provides 135 cycles per hour as standard, with optional motor and cycle rate upgrades available up to 250 and 275 cycles per hour respectively.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The MDR-RB-1000 is certified to K12 and M50/P1 impact test ratings — confirming independently tested stopping performance against a 7.5-tonne vehicle at 80 km/h (M50) and a 3.5-tonne vehicle at 112 km/h, with P1 penetration classification indicating zero or minimal penetration of the protected zone after impact. Post-crash functional capability is certified — the barrier continues operating after sustaining the design impact, allowing continued access control without barrier replacement.

The hydraulic structural beam spans openings from 3 to 10 meters — the widest single-unit rising beam barrier span available in the Madoors USA range — covering the full range of vehicle lane widths at security entrances from standard single-lane access roads through to wide dual-carriageway entrance configurations. Guard height in the raised position is 120 cm — sufficient to engage the bumper, radiator, and lower engine compartment of all standard commercial vehicles.

Deployment time is 3 to 5 seconds for standard operation. The Emergency Fast Operate (EFO) option delivers sub-3-second emergency deployment for immediate threat response. The Defender model operates at 120 cycles per hour standard, upgradeable to 250 cycles per hour. The Sentinel model operates at 135 cycles per hour standard, upgradeable to 275 cycles per hour.

Standard power supply is 208–240V 3-phase 60Hz. Optional power configurations cover 460–480V 3-phase 60/50Hz and 220V AC for international installations. All electrical components include high/low voltage circuit protection. Low oil level and high oil temperature sensors monitor hydraulic system health. A hydraulic oil filter maintains fluid quality throughout the service life.

Battery backup options cover a low-voltage battery providing one reserve cycle for minimal power failure protection, and an HPU battery backup providing up to 40 reserve cycles for extended operation during power outages at high-security facilities where prolonged power independence is required.

KEY FEATURES
K12 & M50/P1 Crash Test Certified — Bidirectional
The MDR-RB-1000 is certified to K12 and M50/P1 — confirming independent crash test performance against the most demanding hostile vehicle mitigation specifications used by government, military, and critical infrastructure procurement authorities. M50/P1 certification — zero penetration at 50 mph — represents the highest available penetration performance result for a rising beam barrier. Bidirectional design provides certified stopping performance against vehicle attacks from either approach direction.

Remains Functional After Crash — Continued Access Control
The MDR-RB-1000 remains fully operational after sustaining a design-rated vehicle impact — allowing the security team to maintain controlled access at the entrance immediately after a vehicle attack without the barrier being taken out of service. This post-crash functional capability is a critical operational requirement for security perimeters where loss of barrier function after an attack would create a secondary security vulnerability at the compromised entrance.

Spans 3 to 10 Meters — Single Unit Coverage
The MDR-RB-1000 spans road openings from 3 to 10 meters in a single beam unit — providing complete vehicle lane blocking across the widest vehicle access road configurations without requiring intermediate support posts within the roadway opening. This single-unit span coverage eliminates the central support post obstruction that multi-unit barrier systems create at wide entrance openings and maintains full unobstructed clear width for authorized vehicle traffic.

120 cm Guard Height — Maximum Vehicle Engagement
The 120 cm full guard height of the raised beam provides maximum engagement height against all vehicle types — engaging the bumper, radiator, hood, and lower windshield of passenger vehicles and the bumper and front frame of heavy goods vehicles and trucks — distributing the impact stopping force across a large vehicle contact area and maximizing the structural load path into the beam and foundation for the highest available stopping effectiveness.

Flush Roadway Retraction — No Surface Obstruction
The raised beam retracts to flush with the roadway surface when vehicle access is granted — presenting no surface obstruction to vehicle tires, snowplow blades, road sweeping equipment, or maintenance vehicles during normal authorized vehicle traffic. Flush retraction eliminates the tire damage and equipment protection requirements of partially recessed or exposed barrier elements in the lowered position.

Minimal Roadway Excavation — Utility Avoidance
The primary excavation for the MDR-RB-1000 is located outside the roadway opening rather than across the roadway — with only minimal excavation required across the road surface itself. This outside-primary excavation design avoids the underground utility conflicts and subsurface obstruction risks that affect conventional barrier systems requiring deep excavation directly under the roadway, significantly reducing installation complexity and cost at sites with congested underground services.

3 to 5 Second Deployment — Emergency Fast Operate Option
Standard 3 to 5 second deployment provides fast barrier activation for normal security access management. The Emergency Fast Operate option reduces deployment time below 3 seconds for immediate threat response at the highest-risk access control points — minimizing the physical exposure window between threat identification and full barrier height deployment.

PLC with Color Touch Screen — Advanced Control Interface
The PLC control system with color touch screen provides an intuitive, professional operator interface with selectable loop programming, two programmable inputs and two programmable outputs per zone, maintenance operating screen, and full system monitoring capability. The color touch screen interface reduces operator training time and error rate compared to conventional pushbutton and indicator light control panels.

Defender & Sentinel Models — High Cycle Capacity
Two model variants serve different operational duty cycle requirements. The Defender model provides 120 cycles per hour standard — suited to high-traffic commercial and institutional access control applications. The Sentinel model provides 135 cycles per hour standard — suited to the highest-cycle military, government, and critical infrastructure access control positions. Both models are upgradeable to 250 and 275 cycles per hour respectively with optional motor upgrades for the most demanding continuous-duty applications.

Motor Options — 5hp, 7.5hp & 10hp
Three motor specifications — 5hp standard, 7.5hp upgrade, and 10hp upgrade — cover the full range of hydraulic power requirements from standard commercial access control through to the highest-cycle, fastest-deployment military and government security applications. Motor selection is based on the required cycle rate, deployment speed, beam weight, and span length of each specific installation.

HPU Battery Backup — Up to 40 Reserve Cycles
The HPU battery backup option provides up to 40 complete raise and lower reserve cycles during mains power failure — maintaining full automated access control capability throughout extended power outages at critical security facilities where prolonged electrical supply interruption is a credible scenario. The standard low-voltage battery backup provides one reserve cycle for basic power failure protection at lower criticality installations.

Wrong Way & Over Speed Detection
Optional wrong way and over speed detection systems monitor vehicle approach direction and speed, alerting security personnel to vehicles approaching from the unauthorized direction or at speeds exceeding the access control zone speed limit — enabling pre-emptive barrier deployment before the hostile vehicle reaches the barrier position.

Integrated Traffic Arm or Sliding Gate
The MDR-RB-1000 integrates with a traffic control arm or sliding gate as a combined access control system — providing both the crash-rated physical vehicle stopping capability of the rising beam and the operational vehicle flow management function of a traffic arm or gate in a single coordinated system with unified PLC control.

Weatherproof Enclosure — All-Climate Operation
The hydraulic power unit and control electronics are housed in a weatherproof enclosure rated for outdoor installation across all climatic conditions. Optional hydraulic oil heater and cooler maintain hydraulic fluid viscosity within the operational range for consistent performance in extreme cold and hot climate installations. Optional enclosure air conditioning unit maintains electronics within the temperature operating range at high-ambient-temperature installation sites.

Multiple Enclosure & Finish Options
Standard black powder coat finish is complemented by optional stainless steel construction, custom color powder coating, reflective banding, enclosure strobe light and horn, enclosure tamper switches, custom paint, and convenience lighting — allowing the barrier enclosure to be specified for the specific aesthetic, visibility, security, and functional requirements of each installation.

ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION SEQUENCE
Site Survey & Configuration Selection
Road width, required span — 3 to 10 meters — crash certification requirement, model selection — Defender or Sentinel — motor size, cycle rate, power supply configuration, control interface, battery backup requirement, and optional feature specifications are confirmed. Utility survey of underground services is conducted to confirm the outside-primary excavation advantage of the MDR-RB-1000 for the specific site.

Primary Excavation — Outside Roadway
Primary foundation excavation for the beam mechanism housing and hydraulic power unit is completed outside the roadway opening. Only minimal excavation is made across the roadway surface for the beam retraction slot. Underground service conflicts are avoided through the outside-primary excavation design.

Foundation Concrete & Beam Housing Installation
Reinforced concrete foundation is cast with the beam mechanism housing anchored at the specified positions. The hydraulic cylinder mounting, beam pivot, and beam retraction slot are set to the engineering dimensions during foundation construction.

Hydraulic Power Unit & Enclosure Installation
The weatherproof HPU enclosure is installed at the specified position outside the roadway. Hydraulic supply and return lines are connected from the HPU to the beam mechanism housing. The system is filled, bled, and pressure-tested.

Rising Beam Installation & Travel Verification
The structural rising beam is installed in the mechanism housing. Beam raise from flush roadway position to full 120 cm guard height and return to flush are verified through multiple complete cycles. Hydraulic locking in both up and down positions is confirmed.

PLC, Control Panel & Access Control Installation
The PLC with color touch screen is installed and commissioned. All control panel options — master pushbutton, remote pushbutton, touchscreen, or radio controls — are installed and connected. Access control interfaces, loop detectors, and wrong way/over speed detection are installed and integrated.

Battery Backup, Safety & Optional Systems
Battery backup system is connected and charged. EFO emergency fast operate is calibrated. Traffic arm or sliding gate integration is commissioned. Enclosure strobe, horn, and tamper switches are installed and tested. Oil heater, cooler, and A/C are commissioned where specified.

Certification Documentation & Operational Testing
Complete operational testing is conducted — all control modes, safety systems, EFO, battery backup reserve cycles, wrong way detection, and cycle rate verification at the Defender or Sentinel standard and upgraded capacity. K12 and M50/P1 crash test certification documentation is compiled into the project handover package.
