Gabion Basket, Gabion Wall, Gabion Cage Ballistic Guard Watchtower (Type 1)

The Madoors USA Gabion Basket Ballistic Guard Watchtower Type 1 is a bulletproof and explosion-proof accordion-type folding sand-filled gabion basket observation tower system — constructed on the same design logic as the Type 2 tower with the single defining difference of a proprietary company-designed modular steel roof system instead of a sand-filled basket roof. The modular interconnectable steel roof structure with insulation coating on hot-dip galvanized steel provides corrosion and rust resistance throughout the service life, with roof carrier support steels placed in the gabion baskets and sand-filled into stable permanent positions, and the roof panels connected to these supports by steel screws.

Available up to 3 floors in height, with optional company-designed bulletproof and explosion-proof glass, frame, and door systems on customer request, and offered with free exploration project service for tower and perimeter defense wall integrated design, the Madoors USA Type 1 Watchtower provides military and security forces with a rapidly deployed, practically established ballistic observation position at any military point.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The Type 1 watchtower is constructed from accordion-type folding galvanized steel wire gabion basket sections — the same proven gabion basket system used throughout the Madoors USA defense wall, guard booth, and shelter range — with sand fill providing the primary ballistic and blast protection mass in the tower walls on all levels. The Type 1 tower differs from the Type 2 design in the roof construction — the Type 2 uses sand-filled gabion baskets for the roof in the same manner as the walls, while the Type 1 uses the proprietary Madoors USA modular steel roof system.

The proprietary roof system consists of modular interconnectable steel structural sections with insulation materials coated on hot-dip galvanized steel — providing the thermal insulation required for year-round occupied observation tower use alongside the structural spanning capability required to cover the tower footprint. Roof carrier support steels are placed within the upper level gabion basket wall sections before sand filling — the sand fill then locks the support steels permanently in position within the basket structure, providing a stable, sand-secured connection point for the roof panels. Roof panels are connected to these embedded support steels using steel screws — creating a mechanically positive connection between the roof and the tower wall structure.

Tower height capability reaches up to 3 floors — with each floor constructed from the same accordion basket and sand fill process, stacked on the floor below. Multi-floor tower construction extends the observation height for maximum surveillance range and tactical vantage point advantage.

Optional bulletproof and explosion-proof glass, frame, and door systems — designed by Madoors USA to match the specific aperture dimensions of each tower configuration — complete the protected observation and access envelope for towers where certified glass and door protection is required alongside the sand-filled wall protection.

KEY FEATURES
Type 1 vs Type 2 — Proprietary Steel Roof Distinction
The Type 1 and Type 2 gabion watchtowers share the same sand-filled gabion basket wall construction and the same bulletproof and explosion-proof protection principle — the single distinction is the roof. Type 1 uses the proprietary modular interconnectable steel roof system with insulation coating for the covered, thermally comfortable observation position. Type 2 uses sand-filled gabion baskets for the roof — providing the same overhead ballistic protection as the walls at the cost of the additional sand fill weight on the upper structure. Type 1 is the preferred specification where thermal comfort in the observation position is a priority alongside ballistic protection.

Modular Interconnectable Steel Roof — Insulated & Corrosion Resistant
The modular interconnectable steel roof system provides a finished, insulated overhead structure for the tower observation level — with the modular components connecting together to span the tower footprint and the insulation coating providing thermal separation between the external environment and the tower interior. Hot-dip galvanization of all steel roof components provides long-term corrosion and rust resistance in the outdoor exposure conditions of field-deployed military watchtowers — maintaining structural integrity without surface treatment maintenance throughout the deployment period.

Sand-Secured Roof Support Integration
The roof carrier support steels placed in the upper level gabion baskets before sand filling are permanently secured by the surrounding sand mass — eliminating the mechanical anchor requirements of conventional roof-to-wall connections and using the same sand fill principle that provides the tower's ballistic protection to also secure the roof structure. This sand-secured connection is maintenance-free, weather-resistant, and structurally stable against the wind loading and occupancy loads applied to the tower roof throughout the deployment period.

Up to 3-Floor Height — Extended Observation Range
Three-floor construction capability provides the observation height required for maximum surveillance range over the surrounding terrain — each additional floor of the gabion tower adds observation height and extends the detection range of personnel in the tower against approaching threats, vehicle movement, and personnel activity in the surrounding area. The 3-floor height limit is set by the structural stability of the sand-filled gabion basket stacked construction — providing a substantial elevation advantage for observation post missions.

Bulletproof & Explosion Proof — Wall Protection
The sand-filled gabion basket walls of the Type 1 tower provide the same certified bulletproof and explosion-proof protection as the Madoors USA Type 2 tower, guard booth, shelter, and defense wall systems — bullets are absorbed and retained in the sand fill without penetration to the occupied interior, and blast overpressure from nearby detonations is attenuated by the sand mass without wall structural failure. This protection profile covers the full spectrum of direct fire small arms, heavy machine gun, rocket-propelled grenade, and blast threats encountered at military observation and guard positions.

Optional Bulletproof Glass, Frame & Door Systems
Company-designed bulletproof and explosion-proof glass, frame, and door systems can be added to the tower on customer request — providing certified ballistic protection at all aperture positions in the tower structure. Glass and frame systems allow observation and weapon engagement through protected openings without exposing personnel to direct fire through unprotected observation windows. Door systems provide ballistic protection at the tower access points. All optional glass and door systems are designed and manufactured by Madoors USA to match the specific aperture dimensions of each tower configuration.

Rapid Military Point Deployment — Practical Construction
The observation tower can be created at military points very quickly and practically — the accordion-folding basket components deploy rapidly, fill with locally available sand, and provide an immediately operational protected observation position. This rapid practical deployment capability supports the military requirement to establish observation positions quickly when moving to new areas, establishing new patrol bases, or responding to evolving tactical situations requiring elevated observation coverage.

Free Exploration Project Service — Integrated Tower & Wall Design
The free exploration project service covers both the tower design and its integration with the accordion sand-filled perimeter defense wall — allowing the complete military position to be designed as an integrated system with the tower providing elevated observation capability over the perimeter defense wall. This integrated design approach ensures that the tower height, position, and aperture layout are optimized for the specific tactical observation requirement of the position and the perimeter geometry of the camp or checkpoint it protects.

Component Transport to Field
Accordion-folded gabion basket components, roof modular steel panels, roof carrier support steels, and optional door and glass systems are transported to the deployment location by air or vehicle.

Ground Floor Wall Construction
First-floor accordion baskets are opened and positioned in the tower footprint layout. Sand or local soil is filled into all first-floor wall baskets to the specified fill height. Doorway positions are maintained clear for access door system installation.

Second & Third Floor Wall Construction
Additional basket levels are opened and positioned on top of the completed and filled lower level walls. Sand filling proceeds level by level until the specified tower height is reached.

Roof Carrier Support Steel Installation & Sand Securing
Roof carrier support steels are placed in the upper level basket wall sections at the specified positions. Sand filling of the upper level baskets then proceeds, locking the carrier support steels permanently in the sand-filled wall positions.

Modular Steel Roof Installation
Modular interconnectable steel roof panels are assembled and connected to the embedded carrier support steels using steel screws. Roof panel connections, span geometry, and screw torque are verified across all support connections.

Optional Door & Glass System Installation
Ballistic steel door systems are installed in the tower access openings. Bulletproof glass and frame systems are installed at observation and weapon aperture positions. Ballistic continuity between the door and glass systems and the surrounding sand-filled walls is verified.

Tower Operational
The completed Type 1 gabion basket watchtower is immediately operational as a bulletproof and explosion-proof elevated observation position. Free exploration project service documentation is compiled into the project record.
