Flood Barrier

The Madoors USA Automatic Flood Barrier is a fully automated, self-closing flood protection system engineered to protect walk doors, retaining walls, driveways, storefronts, loading docks, and building perimeters against flash floods, storm surges, spring tides, and sustained flooding — without requiring any manual intervention from the building occupant. Manufactured in one piece up to 10 meters wide in mild steel, stainless steel, or aluminum with a hot-dip galvanized body that does not rust, the Madoors USA flood barrier activates automatically when water level sensors detect rising water — even at night while occupants are asleep or during power outages when battery kits maintain uninterrupted operation. All systems carry a 2-year guarantee.

The laser-cut mono-block body is designed to withstand heavy vehicle passage when in the lowered position, with hydraulic and pneumatic working configurations available and all electrical components installed at elevated positions away from potential flood contact — only air and hydraulic piping are at ground level, with the electric panel installed at a location that does not receive water.

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Madoors USA Automatic Flood Barriers are manufactured in one piece up to 10 meters in width and produced in the required height and length according to project-specific pressure zone and opening dimensions. The mono-block laser-cut body is fully covered with steel and hot-dip galvanized — providing complete, maintenance-free corrosion resistance without rust throughout the service life of the barrier. Paint coating over galvanization is available on request for color-matched installations.

The barrier operates hydraulically or pneumatically — with the actuating mechanism raising the barrier body from the flush lowered position to the sealed upright flood protection position when the water level sensor triggers activation. Hydraulic and pneumatic configurations cover different flow volume, response speed, and site infrastructure requirements. The mechanical body structure is designed to carry heavy vehicle loads when in the lowered, flush position — allowing normal vehicle traffic over the barrier installation during non-flood conditions without structural damage.

Electronic water level switches — Madoors USA specially designed sensors — detect flooding automatically and trigger barrier closure without operator intervention, including during nighttime when occupants are asleep and during power failure events when the battery kit backup system maintains full barrier operation. The water drains through a lower channel integrated into the installation and is evacuated to a convenient discharge point by submersible pumps, preventing water accumulation at the barrier base after the flood event recedes.

All electrical components and the electric panel are installed at positions that do not receive water — with only air and hydraulic piping routed at ground level. This elevated electrical installation design ensures that the barrier control system remains operational throughout a flood event even when the surrounding ground-level area is submerged.

Sealed seals prevent water leakage into the protected zone when the barrier is in the closed position, blocking both the primary floodwater flow and the floating debris and objects carried by the floodwater. The barrier body provides the structural resistance required to withstand the hydrostatic pressure of the design flood water height without deflection that would compromise the seal integrity.

KEY FEATURES
Fully Automatic Self-Closing — No Manual Intervention Required
The Madoors USA automatic flood barrier closes entirely by itself in response to water level sensor activation — without requiring any manual operation, remote command, or human presence at the protected location. This fully automatic response is the critical operational advantage over manual flood barriers for flash flood scenarios where the speed of flood onset may not allow time for manual deployment, and for nighttime events where occupants are asleep and unable to respond in time.

Automatic Night Operation — Closes While Occupants Sleep
Madoors USA specially designed sensors detect flooding automatically and trigger barrier closure at any time of day or night — including while building occupants are asleep. This nighttime automatic closure capability directly prevents the property and life safety losses caused by flash floods that occur during sleeping hours when manual flood barrier deployment is impossible.

Battery Kit Backup — Operates During Power Failure
Even when mains electrical power is cut due to flood conditions — a common occurrence when floodwater reaches electrical infrastructure — the battery kit backup system maintains full automatic barrier operation without interruption. This power-failure operational continuity ensures that the most critical moment of a flood event — when the power grid fails — does not also result in barrier failure.

One-Piece Construction Up to 10 Meters
The barrier is manufactured as a single mono-block unit up to 10 meters wide, providing seamless flood protection across the full opening width without intermediate joints, section connections, or potential leak paths between barrier sections. One-piece construction eliminates the sealing complexity and potential failure points present in multi-section barrier systems for wide openings.

Heavy Vehicle Load Capacity — Flush Installation
The mechanical structure is specifically designed to carry heavy vehicle loads when in the lowered, flush position — allowing normal vehicle and forklift traffic over the barrier installation during non-flood conditions. This flush, load-bearing closed position means that the barrier can be permanently installed at vehicle access points — driveways, loading docks, storefronts — without requiring the barrier to be removed or the access route to be diverted during normal operations.

Laser-Cut Mono-Block Body — Hot-Dip Galvanized
The laser-cut mono-block body construction provides precise dimensional accuracy, consistent structural geometry, and a clean, professional installation appearance. Hot-dip galvanization of the full body exterior provides comprehensive, long-term corrosion resistance in the wet, contaminated, and salt-exposure environments of flood-prone coastal, riverine, and urban locations.

Hydraulic & Pneumatic Operation
Both hydraulic and pneumatic actuation configurations are available — with the appropriate system selected based on the available site infrastructure, required closure speed, and maintenance preference of each installation. Both configurations provide reliable, high-force barrier actuation capable of raising the heavy steel barrier body against the hydrostatic resistance of rising floodwater.

No Electrical Components at Ground Level
The design principle of positioning all electrical components at elevated, flood-free locations — with only air and hydraulic piping at ground level — ensures that no electrical failure from water contact can prevent barrier activation during the flood event. The electric panel is installed at a confirmed flood-free height, maintaining control system integrity throughout the full depth of the design flood scenario.

Electronic Water Level Switches — Automatic Detection
Madoors USA specially designed electronic water level switches detect the onset of flooding and trigger automatic barrier closure at the precisely calibrated water level threshold — providing the earliest possible barrier activation and maximizing the advance warning time before floodwater reaches the protected building or zone.

Sealed Seals — Zero Water Ingress
Sealed seals across the full barrier contact perimeter prevent water leakage into the protected zone under the design hydrostatic pressure load — blocking both the primary floodwater flow and the debris, sediment, and floating objects carried by the floodwater that would otherwise penetrate through seal gaps and cause contamination and damage in the protected space.

Lower Channel Drainage & Submersible Pump Evacuation
The lower drainage channel integrated into the barrier installation collects water that accumulates at the barrier base during a flood event and evacuates it by submersible pump to a suitable discharge point — preventing water accumulation that could compromise seal performance or create access difficulties at the barrier location during and after the flood event.

Custom Height & Length — Any Pressure Zone
The barrier is produced in the required height and length for each project — matching the specific opening dimensions and flood water pressure zone of the installation location. Project-specific design ensures that the barrier provides exactly the required flood protection performance for the confirmed flood scenario without undersizing or oversizing the barrier for the specific hydraulic conditions.

Available in Mild Steel, Stainless Steel & Aluminum
Three material options cover different corrosion resistance, weight, and aesthetic requirements. Mild steel with hot-dip galvanization for standard urban and residential applications. Stainless steel for coastal, high-humidity, and chemically aggressive environments. Aluminum for lightweight applications where barrier weight is a structural or operational constraint.

ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION SEQUENCE
Site Assessment & Flood Risk Profile
The installation opening dimensions, design flood water height, hydraulic or pneumatic system preference, material specification, and electrical panel installation position are confirmed. Project-specific height and length requirements are determined from the flood pressure zone analysis for the installation location.

Foundation & Channel Preparation
The foundation recess for the barrier body in the lowered position is excavated to the specified depth and dimensions. The lower drainage channel is constructed within the foundation recess with outlet drainage routing to the submersible pump discharge point. All hydraulic or pneumatic supply line conduits and electrical wiring conduits are installed within the foundation before concrete works are completed.

Barrier Body Installation
The hot-dip galvanized mono-block barrier body is installed into the prepared foundation recess. Barrier alignment, flush surface level with the surrounding ground or floor surface, and hinge or pivot mechanism operation are verified.

Hydraulic or Pneumatic System Connection
Hydraulic or pneumatic supply lines are connected from the actuation system to the barrier body cylinders through the pre-installed conduits. The system is pressure-tested and verified for leak-free operation through the full raise and lower cycle.

Water Level Sensor Installation & Calibration
Electronic water level switches are installed at the specified sensor positions. Sensor activation threshold — the water level at which automatic barrier closure is triggered — is calibrated for the specific flood onset characteristics of the installation location.

Electric Panel Installation at Elevated Position
The electric control panel is installed at the confirmed elevated, flood-free position. All wiring connections from the panel to sensors, actuators, and battery kit are completed and verified.

Battery Kit Connection & Power Failure Testing
The battery kit backup system is connected and charged. Power failure operation is tested by simulating mains power interruption and verifying continued automatic barrier activation from battery power.

Submersible Pump Installation & Drainage Testing
Submersible pumps are installed in the drainage channel at the specified positions. Pump activation, drainage channel flow, and discharge outlet routing are tested and verified.

Full Automatic Cycle Testing & Handover
Complete automatic barrier operation is tested — water level sensor activation, barrier raise, sealed seal contact verification, battery backup operation, and barrier lower after flood recession — through multiple complete cycles. Installation handover documentation and 2-year guarantee are provided.
