The folding mechanism opens in two or more panel sections, with the folded panels stacking to one side or both sides of the opening depending on the specified configuration. Single-direction folding to one side uses two leaves — providing maximum vehicle entry clearance in installations where side space is available in only one direction. Bi-parting folding to both sides provides equal panel distribution for wider openings where central drive clearance and balanced panel storage are preferred.
The bi-folding gate is specifically engineered to resolve the incline problem — where a driveway rises upward from the gate position and a conventional swing gate would bottom out on the rising ground surface. ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION SEQUENCE
Site Survey & Configuration Selection
Opening width, available side space for panel folding, incline conditions, ground surface type, automation preference — surface or underground — and access control system interface requirements are assessed. Panel count, folding direction — single side or bi-parting — material, and design specification are confirmed. Custom design artwork or ornate panel specification is confirmed with the client.
Post & Hinge Foundation Installation
Gate post foundations are excavated and concrete-filled to the specified depth. Posts are set plumb and aligned. For underground automation, the underground operator chambers are excavated and installed at the hinge post positions during foundation works, with conduit routing confirmed to the control panel position.
Gate Panel Fabrication & Finishing
Gate panels are fabricated to the confirmed design specification in the specified material — steel, wrought iron, wood, or composite. Powder coating, galvanizing, or timber finishing is applied. Hinge hardware, locking hardware, and sensor mounting positions are fitted during fabrication.
Gate Panel Hanging & Fold Mechanism Assembly
Gate panels are hung on the post hinges and the bifold connecting hinge between adjacent panels is assembled. Panel alignment, fold geometry, and ground clearance across the full open-to-closed travel arc are set and verified — including verification of ground clearance on inclined driveways throughout the fold travel.
Motor Drive Installation & Connection
