TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Madoors USA Ballistic Shelter Containers are manufactured in ISO 20-foot and 40-foot shaped configurations suitable for standard sea freight and road transport using conventional container handling equipment. The shelter body provides custom-specified blast and ballistic protection levels — with protection level, wall construction, glazing specification, and structural reinforcement all determined during the design phase to meet the specific threat profile of the deployment environment.
Standard shelter fitout covers the full range of life support and communications systems required for extended refuge occupancy: lighting system, power generator, UPS for uninterrupted power during mains failure, air conditioning, air filtration system, thermal and acoustic insulation, GSM communications system, furniture, and toilet area. The complete fitout allows personnel to shelter safely and comfortably for extended periods without external support — a critical capability for piracy response on offshore vessels, emergency refuge at industrial sites, and anti-terrorism safe haven applications.
Portable shelters are thermally insulated and rated for operation across the full environmental temperature range of -30°C to +60°C, including suitability for desert environment deployment — providing climate control performance in the most extreme hot and cold environments encountered in global industrial and military deployment locations.
The modular composition of the containerized shelter system allows individual units to be joined together to create larger shelter configurations. The double-wide shelter cluster is an example of this modular expansion capability, providing extended floor area, additional personnel capacity, and greater accessory accommodation by joining two shelter units side by side. Container types available within the range cover Bicon, Tricon, Quadcon, Qube mini, ISO 20, ISO 40, and fully bespoke configurations. Variants include accommodation, mobile laboratory, and blast-resistant configurations across the full application range.
KEY FEATURES
Custom Blast & Ballistic Protection Levels
Every Madoors USA ballistic shelter is manufactured to a custom-specified blast and ballistic protection level, determined during the design phase to match the specific threat profile of the deployment environment. Protection levels cover the full range from anti-ballistic small arms protection through to blast-resistant configurations capable of withstanding nearby detonation events — with the wall construction, glazing, and structural specification tailored to the confirmed threat level.
ISO 20 & 40 Container Format — Sea & Road Transport
The ISO 20-foot and 40-foot container format provides full compatibility with standard global intermodal container logistics infrastructure — sea freight, road transport, rail transport, and standard container handling equipment. This transport compatibility enables rapid global deployment of ballistic shelter systems to any location accessible by standard container logistics, without requiring specialized transport equipment or custom lifting arrangements.
No Special Technical Skills Required — Immediate Deployment
The ballistic shelter system is designed to be installed and operated without special technical skills, allowing deployment personnel without engineering or construction training to establish an operational shelter rapidly in emergency or field conditions. This ease of deployment is critical for piracy response on offshore vessels, emergency industrial safe refuge deployment, and military forward base rapid shelter establishment where specialist installation teams may not be available.
Full Life Support Fitout — Extended Refuge Capability
The standard fully accessorized fitout — lighting, power generator, UPS, air conditioning, air filtration, thermal and acoustic insulation, GSM communications, furniture, and toilet area — provides complete life support capability for extended refuge occupancy without external services. This self-contained life support capability allows personnel to shelter safely for hours without requiring any external supply or service connection during the refuge period.
-30°C to +60°C Operational Temperature Range
Thermal insulation and climate control systems maintain safe and comfortable interior temperatures across the full operational temperature range of -30°C to +60°C — covering Arctic cold and desert heat extremes encountered in global industrial, maritime, and military deployment locations. Desert environment suitability is specifically confirmed, making the shelter system deployable across the most thermally demanding environments without modification.
Modular Joinable Configuration — Scalable Capacity
The modular container composition allows individual shelter units to be joined together to create larger shelter configurations of any required floor area and personnel capacity. The double-wide shelter cluster configuration joins two units side by side to create an expanded shelter with additional personnel capacity and greater equipment accommodation — without requiring custom-built structures or site construction works.
Maritime & Offshore Application — Piracy Protection
The shelter system is specifically engineered and certified for maritime application — installation on board vessels and offshore oil and gas platforms for the protection of working personnel against piracy attacks. The ISO container format, sea transport compatibility, and compact modular dimensions make the shelter fully compatible with vessel deck installation and offshore platform space constraints.
High-Risk Industrial Application — Fire & Explosion Protection
For high-risk industrial environments — petrochemical plants, refineries, chemical processing facilities, and explosive materials handling areas — the ballistic shelter provides immediate safe refuge for working personnel against fire attacks, explosions, and armed assault. Proximity deployment at high-risk industrial process areas ensures that personnel can reach the shelter quickly during an incident without crossing exposed ground.
Anti-Terrorism Safe Refuge
Anti-terrorism shelter configurations provide a certified ballistic and blast-resistant safe refuge for personnel at locations where the risk of armed attack or explosive device detonation creates a credible immediate threat to life. The fully accessorized fitout supports extended refuge occupancy until the threat has been neutralized and it is safe for personnel to leave the shelter.
GSM Communications System
The integrated GSM communications system maintains personnel communication with external security and emergency response teams during a refuge event — a critical operational requirement for coordinating emergency response, directing security forces, and confirming personnel safety status without requiring personnel to leave the protected shelter environment.
Air Filtration System — CBRN Capability
The air filtration system provides filtered, clean air supply to the shelter interior during a refuge event — protecting personnel from toxic gas, smoke, chemical contamination, and biological or radiological airborne hazards in the surrounding environment. This air filtration capability extends the shelter's protection into CBRN threat scenarios beyond conventional ballistic and blast protection applications.
Wide Container Type Range — Bicon to Bespoke
The full container type range — Bicon, Tricon, Quadcon, Qube mini, ISO 20, ISO 40, and fully bespoke — provides dimensional and configuration flexibility to match the specific space constraints, transport requirements, and personnel capacity needs of every deployment scenario. Bespoke container configurations are engineered exactly to client specifications, with no constraint from standard container dimensions where the application demands a non-standard solution.
Engineering Excellence — Bespoke Solutions
Madoors USA's design and supply team brings a wealth of experience, engineering capability, and technical excellence to every bespoke shelter project — designing solutions that meet demanding weight requirements and incorporate the precise combination of power, data, fluid services, air conditioning, and blast and ballistic protection required by the specific application.
