The Madoors USA ASTM M50 Counter Terrorism Terra Swing V-Gate is a K-12, ASTM M50, and PAS 68 certified anti-ram swing gate system engineered to stop vehicle-borne terrorist attacks with zero site penetration — independently impact tested stopping a 7.5 tonne vehicle traveling at 50 mph (80 kph), representing 1,852 kJ of kinetic energy, with the gate remaining fully functional after impact. The bi-parting hinged gate leaves secure in a shallow V-shape configuration, with the V geometry distributing and redirecting vehicle impact energy across the heavy-duty crash beam and support post structure — providing certified hostile vehicle mitigation performance in a gate system designed for easy installation, easy maintenance, and full integration with any access control system.
Available in manual and motorized configurations, with automation via Siemens hydraulic motor or Siemens electromechanical motor drive systems, the Terra Swing V-Gate accommodates opening widths up to 10 meters, standard heights of 2,600 mm and 3,000 mm, and variable heights up to 5,000 mm — covering the full range of perimeter entrance dimensions encountered at government, military, critical infrastructure, and high-security commercial facilities.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
The Madoors USA Terra Swing V-Gate is certified to K-12, ASTM M50, ASTM M30, and PAS 68 hostile vehicle mitigation standards. The M50 certification confirms the gate's independently tested capability to stop a 7.5 tonne vehicle at 50 mph (80 kph) — equivalent to 1,852 kJ of kinetic impact energy — with zero penetration onto the protected site and full gate functionality retained after the impact event. This zero-penetration, post-impact functional performance result represents the highest achievable outcome in hostile vehicle mitigation testing, confirming that the gate not only stops the attacking vehicle but remains operational for continued access control following the impact.
The gate consists of a bi-parting pair of hinged gate leaves that close and secure in a shallow V-shape. The V-configuration directs the force of a vehicle impact into both leaves simultaneously, transferring energy through the heavy-duty impact crash beam to the heavy-duty support posts anchored in the foundation structure. This load path geometry is the structural basis of the V-gate's certified stopping performance at shallow foundation depths.
Maximum gate width is 10 meters. Standard heights are 2,600 mm and 3,000 mm, with variable heights available up to 5,000 mm for applications requiring enhanced anti-climb deterrence or site-specific height requirements. Gate leaves can be operated manually in bi-parting configuration or automated with Siemens hydraulic motor or Siemens electromechanical motor drive systems. The motorized system interfaces with any access control system, enabling full integration with existing site security infrastructure.
KEY FEATURES
K-12, ASTM M50 & PAS 68 Triple Certification
The Terra Swing V-Gate holds independent crash test certification to K-12, ASTM M50, and PAS 68 — the three primary internationally recognized hostile vehicle mitigation rating systems used by government, defense, and critical infrastructure procurement authorities across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Triple certification eliminates the need for clients to source separate gate products to satisfy different national or institutional certification requirements at a single facility entrance.
Zero Penetration — 7.5 Tonne at 50 mph
The gate was independently impact tested stopping a 7.5 tonne vehicle traveling at 50 mph (80 kph) — 1,852 kJ of kinetic energy — with zero penetration onto the protected site. Zero penetration is the highest possible penetration performance result in ASTM and PAS 68 testing, confirming that no part of the attacking vehicle crossed the gate line into the protected area during or after the impact event.
Fully Functional After Impact
Following the M50 impact test, the gate remained fully functional — capable of continued open and close operation and providing ongoing access control at the entrance after sustaining a maximum-rated vehicle attack. Post-impact functionality is a critical operational requirement for high-security facilities that must maintain controlled access immediately after a vehicle attack attempt, without requiring gate replacement before normal operations can resume.
Shallow V-Shape Configuration — Structural Load Distribution
The bi-parting leaves close and secure in a shallow V-shape, with the V geometry directing vehicle impact force simultaneously into both gate leaves and distributing the load through the crash beam to the support post foundation anchors. This structural load path is the engineering basis of the V-gate's M50 stopping performance — the V configuration converts the linear momentum of the attacking vehicle into a distributed structural load that the gate and foundation system are engineered to absorb and arrest.
Heavy-Duty Impact Crash Beam
The heavy-duty impact crash beam spans between the two gate leaves at the point of closure, providing the primary structural connection across the gate opening that arrests vehicle forward momentum during an impact event. The crash beam specification is a critical component of the gate's certified stopping performance and is engineered to the load requirements of the specific impact rating.
Heavy-Duty Support Posts
Heavy-duty support posts anchor the gate leaves to the foundation structure and transfer vehicle impact loads from the gate leaves and crash beam into the ground foundation. Post specification, embedment depth, and foundation design are engineered to the certified impact rating of the gate system.
Manual & Motorized Operation
The gate is available in manual bi-parting operation for installations requiring a non-powered access control solution, or motorized automatic operation using Siemens hydraulic motor or Siemens electromechanical motor drive systems. The choice between hydraulic and electromechanical drive is made based on the operational cycle rate, power availability, and site environmental conditions of each specific installation.
Siemens Hydraulic Motor Automation
The hydraulic Siemens motor automation system provides high-force gate drive capability suited to the heavy leaf weight and high operational cycle demands of active security entrance gates at high-traffic facilities. Hydraulic drive delivers consistent force output across varying temperature conditions and is the preferred automation choice for the largest gate widths and heaviest leaf configurations.
Siemens Electromechanical Motor Automation
The Siemens electromechanical motor automation system provides reliable, low-maintenance gate drive for installations where electrical supply infrastructure is fully available and operational cycle rates are within the electromechanical system's duty cycle capacity.
Universal Access Control System Integration
The motorized Terra Swing V-Gate interfaces with any access control system, enabling full integration with existing card reader, biometric, vehicle recognition, intercom, CCTV, and security management infrastructure at the protected site — without requiring dedicated access control hardware specific to the gate system.
Maximum Width 10 Meters
The gate accommodates entrance opening widths up to 10 meters, covering the full range of vehicle entrance widths encountered at government, military, critical infrastructure, and commercial facility perimeters — from standard single-vehicle access lanes through to wide dual-carriageway entrance configurations.
Heights 2,600 mm to 5,000 mm
Standard gate heights of 2,600 mm and 3,000 mm are available as off-the-shelf configurations. Variable heights up to 5,000 mm are available for installations requiring enhanced anti-climb deterrence at the gate opening or site-specific height requirements driven by visual screening, architectural, or security specification needs.
Easy Installation & Maintenance
The Terra Swing V-Gate is designed for straightforward installation and low ongoing maintenance requirements, reducing installation time and whole-life maintenance costs compared to more complex crash-rated gate systems — while delivering equivalent or superior certified impact performance.
ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION SEQUENCE
Site Survey & Engineering Assessment
Entrance width, ground conditions, buried service locations, available foundation depth, and access control system interface requirements are surveyed and assessed. Gate width, height, and drive system configuration — manual, hydraulic, or electromechanical — are confirmed. ASTM M50 or M30, K-12, and PAS 68 certification requirements for the specific project procurement are documented.
Foundation Design & Excavation
Foundation positions for support posts and crash beam anchor points are designed to the engineering requirements of the specified impact rating. Foundation excavation is completed and reinforced concrete foundations are cast with post anchor positions set to the installation engineering drawings. Foundations achieve full design strength before gate installation proceeds.
Support Post Installation
Heavy-duty support posts are installed onto the cast foundation anchor bolts, aligned, and torqued to the specified installation settings. Post plumb and alignment are verified in both plan and elevation before gate leaf installation proceeds.
Gate Leaf Hanging & V-Configuration Setting
Bi-parting gate leaves are hung on the support post hinges. The V-closure geometry is set and verified — both leaves closing to the specified V-angle and crash beam engagement position. Leaf alignment, hinge torque, and closure contact are verified across the full open and close travel range.
Crash Beam Installation & Closure Verification
The heavy-duty impact crash beam is installed across the gate closure point, connecting both leaves at the specified crash beam engagement position. Crash beam locking mechanism is tested through multiple closure cycles to verify positive engagement and release.
Drive System Installation & Commissioning (Motorized Variants)
The Siemens hydraulic or electromechanical motor drive system is installed and connected to the facility power supply. Gate travel speed, limit positions, and force settings are commissioned and verified. Access control system interface is connected, tested, and verified across all entry and exit modes.
Safety System Integration & Testing
All safety systems — obstruction detection, emergency stop, and manual override — are installed, connected, and tested. Anti-tailgating and forced entry detection systems are commissioned where specified.
Certification Documentation Handover
Crash test certification documentation — K-12, ASTM M50, M30, and PAS 68 certificates as applicable — is compiled into the project handover package alongside installation records, foundation engineering drawings, commissioning test results, and maintenance schedule documentation.
