TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
Madoors USA blast-resistant steel door sets are FM security tested and available in single or double leaf configurations. Each door set is reinforced for a continuous hinge system, door closer, and optional panic bar. The door construction provides excellent thermal reduction and sound attenuation properties alongside a fire rating of 2 hours — combining blast resistance, fire protection, thermal insulation, and acoustic performance in a single door assembly.
The blast door and armory sliding gate frames combine blast and air pressure resistance with the dimensional and operational characteristics of standard hollow metal door products, ensuring compatibility with standard structural openings and hardware without requiring bespoke structural modification of the surrounding wall assembly.
Hydraulic automatic armory sliding gates are available with factory pre-installed glazing, providing ballistic or blast-rated vision panels as an integrated component of the gate assembly rather than a field-fitted addition. The hydraulic drive system provides reliable, heavy-duty automatic gate operation suited to the high-cycle operational demands of active armory and secure facility access control.
Gas-tight construction is a standard feature of the blast door range, preventing toxic gas, overpressure wave, and contaminated air penetration through the door assembly following a blast event — a critical protective performance requirement for personnel sheltering behind the door in the aftermath of an explosion.
Testing of all units is conducted by independent laboratories in compliance with the most current applicable test standards, providing clients with independently verified blast resistance documentation for procurement compliance, insurance, and regulatory submission purposes.
KEY FEATURES
FM Security Tested Blast Resistance
All Madoors USA blast door sets are FM security tested, providing independently verified blast resistance performance documentation that satisfies government, military, and insurance authority procurement requirements for armory, ammunition storage, and critical facility blast-resistant door installations.
Gas-Tight Construction
The blast door assembly is constructed to gas-tight standards, preventing the penetration of toxic gas, blast overpressure wave, and contaminated post-explosion atmosphere through the door assembly into the protected space. Gas-tight performance is a fundamental requirement for personnel protection in armory and secure facility blast door applications where the atmosphere on the blast-exposed side of the door may be immediately hazardous following a detonation event.
Excellent Blast & Air Pressure Resistance
The door frame and leaf assembly combine blast overpressure resistance with air pressure resistance, maintaining the structural integrity of the door assembly and the protection of the occupied space beyond it under the dynamic loading conditions generated by an explosion event in the adjacent area.
2-Hour Fire Rating — NFPA-80 Certified
Fire-labelled Madoors USA blast doors are tested in accordance with NFPA-80 and certified by Laboratories Transpolis and Mira International, providing a 2-hour fire rating alongside blast resistance performance. This combined fire and blast protection capability satisfies the dual protection requirements of armory, ammunition storage, and hazardous materials facility door specifications that mandate both fire containment and explosion resistance in a single door assembly.
Excellent Thermal & Sound Reduction
The door construction delivers excellent thermal insulation and sound attenuation performance, reducing heat transfer and noise transmission through the door assembly — providing personnel comfort and operational security in addition to the primary blast and fire protection functions.
Single & Double Leaf Configuration
The blast door range is available in both single leaf and double leaf configurations, providing dimensional flexibility to accommodate standard and wide-format armory and secure facility openings without requiring custom structural modification of the surrounding wall assembly.
Continuous Hinge Reinforcement
Each blast door set is reinforced for a continuous hinge, distributing the dynamic load of a blast event across the full height of the door leaf rather than concentrating load at discrete hinge point positions — significantly improving the structural integrity of the door-to-frame connection under blast loading and reducing the risk of door leaf separation at hinge points during an explosion event.
Door Closer & Optional Panic Bar
Standard door closer hardware is included with each blast door set, ensuring positive door closure and latching after each pass-through. An optional panic bar provides compliant emergency egress capability for personnel exiting the protected space under emergency conditions — satisfying life safety code requirements for occupied secure facilities.
Hydraulic Automatic Armory Sliding Gate
The hydraulic automatic armory sliding gate provides heavy-duty, automated access control for armory and secure facility vehicle and personnel entrances. The hydraulic drive system delivers the high force output required for reliable operation of heavy blast-rated gate leaves across high operational cycle rates, with factory pre-installed glazing available for vision panel integration without field glazing installation.
Factory Pre-Installed Glazing
Glazing panels for blast door and armory sliding gate assemblies are factory pre-installed, ensuring correct factory-controlled installation of blast-rated or ballistic-rated vision panels within the door or gate leaf — eliminating field glazing installation variability and providing verified glazing performance as part of the tested and certified door assembly.
Full Engineering Design & Manufacture Capability
Madoors USA maintains full in-house engineering capability to design and manufacture blast-resistant door and gate products to the specific safety performance requirements of each end user project. Custom blast ratings, non-standard dimensions, specialized hardware configurations, and project-specific certification requirements are all managed through Madoors USA's engineering team — providing a complete design-to-installation blast door solution without reliance on third-party design or manufacturing subcontractors.
Independent Laboratory Testing — Current Standards
All blast door and armory gate products are tested by independent laboratories in compliance with the most current applicable blast resistance test standards, providing clients with up-to-date, independently verified performance documentation. Certifications from Laboratories Transpolis and Mira International are provided with fire-rated products.
Complete Hardware — Easy Operation
The full Madoors USA blast-resistant product range is supplied complete with builders hardware that provides an easy-to-operate door system — ensuring that the heavy-duty blast and fire protection performance of the door assembly does not compromise the straightforward, intuitive daily operation required for active armory and secure facility access points used by authorized personnel throughout operational hours.
ASSEMBLY & INSTALLATION SEQUENCE
Engineering Design & Blast Rating Specification
Project-specific blast rating requirements, opening dimensions, leaf configuration, fire rating requirements, glazing specification, and hardware requirements are confirmed with the client engineering and security team. Custom blast resistance performance targets are engineered against the specific threat scenario for the facility.
Structural Opening Preparation
The structural opening is prepared to the specified dimensions for the selected door or gate configuration. Lintel load capacity, wall thickness, and frame anchor positions are verified against the installation engineering drawings. For sliding gate installations, track foundation and hydraulic drive mounting positions are prepared.
Frame Installation & Anchoring
The blast door or gate frame is installed into the prepared structural opening and anchored to the surrounding wall structure at the specified anchor positions. Frame alignment, plumb, and level are verified. For blast door frames, the gas-tight perimeter seal between frame and wall is completed and verified.
Door Leaf Hanging & Continuous Hinge Installation
The blast door leaf is hung on the continuous hinge, with hinge fixings torqued to the specified installation settings. Door leaf alignment, swing clearance, and frame contact at all seal positions are set and verified. For double leaf configurations, both leaves are hung and leaf-to-leaf alignment is verified.
Hardware Fitting & Glazing Verification
Door closer, locking hardware, and optional panic bar are fitted and adjusted. Factory pre-installed glazing integrity is inspected following transport and installation. Any site-specific hardware — access control readers, intercom, electronic locking — is connected and commissioned.
Hydraulic Drive System Commissioning (Sliding Gate)
For hydraulic automatic armory sliding gates, the hydraulic drive system is connected to the facility power and hydraulic supply. Gate travel speed, limit positions, and force settings are commissioned and verified. Safety system integration — obstruction detection, emergency stop — is tested.
Gas-Tight Seal Verification & Final Testing
Gas-tight perimeter seal integrity is verified across the full door frame perimeter. Full operational testing is conducted across all opening, closing, locking, emergency egress, and access control functions. Fire rating labelling and blast resistance certification documentation are compiled into the project handover package.
